New paint process for added protection

The higher speeds achieved by today’s tractors along with the poor condition of UK roads has resulted in an increased risk of debris impacting the trailer headboard. Mudguards fitted to tractors are only designed to protect the tractor, so how can you protect your trailer against chipped paintwork?

Antichip paint

Here at Bailey, we have the answer: - Our New Ultra-High-build Intermediate Coating. Following months of extensive development with our paint specialists Witham Group, we have introduced an additional paint process designed especially to protect the headboard of the trailer.

We apply primer, our new two-pack structural intermediate coating then a full twin pack top coat. This process now provides elasticity for objects to bounce off the trailer reducing impact and the potential for damage to the exterior paintwork. In addition, this new coating provides enhanced levels of mechanical, chemical, and weather resistance.

Managing Director Michael Bailey commented: “Every time we saw a second hand trailer the paintwork on the headboard had taken a battering from the tractor sending debris to the trailer. We thought this situation could be improved and set to creating a solution which involved many hours in the laboratory and the field. We’re very happy with the result.”
